The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And the close of night, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
