Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 nor any loving friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
