And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 Abraham asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your forefathers preceding you." 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 "And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me." 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 "When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation." 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
