The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WAS THERE NOT a time in the life of man when he was not even a mentionable thing? 1 We created the human being from the union of sperm and egg to test him. We gave him hearing and vision. 2 Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. 3 We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. 4 As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- 5 a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. 8 (Saying),"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks. 9 Surely we fear from our Lord a stern, distressful day. 10 Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, 11 And shall recompense them for that which they patiently bare with a Garden and silken garment. 12 Reclining in it, upon thrones; they will not see the hot sunshine in it, nor the bitter cold. 13 near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver, and goblets of crystal, 15 goblets bright as crystal but made of silver, filled to exact measure. 16 And in Paradise they will be given to drink cups, filled with a mixture of ginger. 17 from a spring named salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 they will wear green garments of fine silk and rich brocade. They will be adorned with silver bracelets. And their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
