Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 therein a running fountain, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 Goblets set, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
