The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 it is not a jest. 14 They are devising guile, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
