The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 and gently take it away; 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
