The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
