S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Sad. CONSIDER this Qur'an, endowed with all that one ought to remember! 1 Nay, those who desbelieve are in false pride and opposition. 2 How many a nation did We destroy before them! (When they approached their doom) they cried out (for deliverance), but the time for deliverance was already past. 3 So they wonder that a Warner has come to them from among themselves! and the Unbelievers say, "This is a sorcerer telling lies! 4 Has he turned so many gods into one deity? This is indeed a strange thing!" 5 And the Council of them depart, saying 'Go! Be steadfast to your gods; this is a thing to be desired. 6 “We never heard of this even in Christianity, the latest religion; this is clearly a newly fabricated matter.” 7 Hath the reminder been unto him (alone) among us? Nay, but they are in doubt concerning My reminder; nay but they have not yet tasted My doom. 8 Or do they have the depositories of the mercy of your Lord, the Exalted in Might, the Bestower? 9 Or is theirs the kingdom of the heavens and earth and of what between them is? Why, then let them ascend the cords! 10 This is just one of the disgraced armies, that will be routed there and then. 11 Before them the nations of Noah, Aad and Pharaoh, and he of the tentpegs belied, 12 and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] 13 Of all these there was not one who did not deny the messengers. So My retribution was justified. 14
