And indeed We rescued the Descendants of Israel from a disgraceful torture. 30 From Firaun; he was indeed proud, among the transgressors. 31 and We chose them, out of a knowledge above the nations (of their time). 32 And We gave them signs in which lay clear favours. 33 Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: 34 'There is nothing except the first death, we shall never be revived. 35 So bring our ancestors back, if you are truthful." 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba and those afore them? We destroyed them; verily they were culprits. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, 38 We created them not except for just ends: but most of them do not understand. 39 Surely the day of separation is their appointed term, of all of them 40 (when wrong will be distinguished from right). On this day friends will be of no benefit to one another, nor will they receive any help 41 Save him on whom Allah hath mercy. Lo! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 42
