۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” – 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 And they will turn to one another and question one another. 27 They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth). 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 Moreover, we had no power at all over you: nay, you were people filled with overweening arrogance! 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 For them is the sustenance known to Us. 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection: 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 64 and its fruits are like devils' heads. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 and behold what happened in the end to those that had been warned [to no avail]! 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
