The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 The closing night, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
