Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 Verily that which ye are promised is true; 5 the Judgement will surely come to pass -- 6 CONSIDER the firmament full of starry paths! 7 your ideas are confused. 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 Woe to the liars 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 They ask: When is the day of judgment? 12 Upon the day when they shall be tried at the Fire: 13 (And told:) "Taste your punishment. This is what you were trying to hasten." 14 The righteous shall live among gardens and fountains, 15 enjoying all that their Sustainer will have granted them [because,] verily, they were doers of good in the past: 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 And in the dawns they prayed for forgiveness. 18 And the beggar and the destitute had a share in their wealth. 19 And in the earth there are signs for those who are sure, 20 And in your own souls (too); will you not then see? 21 And in the heaven is your providence and that which ye are promised; 22 Then by the Lord of the heaven and earth, indeed, it is truth - just as [sure as] it is that you are speaking. 23
