No blame is on you if ye divorce women while yet ye have not touched them nor settled unto them a settlement. Benefit them; on the affluent is due according to his means and on the straitened is due according to his means, a reputable present and duty on the well-doers. 236 And if ye divorce them before consummation, but after the fixation of a dower for them, then the half of the dower (Is due to them), unless they remit it or (the man's half) is remitted by him in whose hands is the marriage tie; and the remission (of the man's half) is the nearest to righteousness. And do not forget Liberality between yourselves. For Allah sees well all that ye do. 237 BE EVER mindful of prayers, and of praying in the most excellent way; and stand before God in devout obedience. 238 But if you are in danger, [pray] walking or riding; and when you are again secure, bear God in mind - since it is He who taught you what you did not previously know. 239 And those among you who die leaving wives behind them – they should bequeath for their wives a complete provision for one full year without turning them out; so if they go out themselves, there is no sin on you regarding what they do of themselves in a reasonable manner; and Allah is Almighty, Wise. 240 And for divorced women is a provision according to what is acceptable - a duty upon the righteous. 241 Thus does God explain His revelations to you so that perhaps you will have understanding. 242
