Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 of one-half thereof - or make it a little less than that, 3 Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. 4 We shall soon entrust to you a message heavy (with solemnity). 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 Indeed you have a lot of matters during the day. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He. So take Him alone for your Guardian, 9 And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance. 10 And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. 11 Indeed We have heavy fetters and a blazing fire. 12 And food that chokes, and a painful punishment. 13 On the day the earth and mountains will rock violently, and the mountains turn to a heap of poured-out sand. 14 We have sent a messenger who is a witness over you, just as We sent a messenger to Pharoah before you. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him with a terrible seizing. 16 If you, disbelieve, how will you be able to protect yourselves from the hardships of the day which would even turn children grey-headed? 17 Whereon the heaven will be cleft asunder? His Promise is certainly to be accomplished. 18 Surely this is a Reminder; so let him who will take unto his Lord a way. 19
