۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 In fact, on that day they will be submissive. 26 And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 But they reply: 'Rather, you were not believers. 29 We had no power over you. You were a rebellious people, 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 So this day they all are partners in the punishment. 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 On thrones facing one another. 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 A speaker from among them shall say: Surely I had a comrade of mine, 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ – 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers, etc.). 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. 66 On top of it they shall have a brew of boiling water, 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 They had indeed found their forefathers astray. 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 And verily most of the men of old went astray before them, 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 See then the end of those who were warned, 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
