The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
