Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ SAY: "I HAVE been informed that a number of jinns had listened; then said: 'We have heard the wondrous Qur'an, 1 guiding to rectitude. We believe in it, and we will not associate with our Lord anyone. 2 ‘And that our Lord’s Majesty is Supreme – He has neither chosen a wife nor a child.’ 3 The dimwit one (the devil) among us has been telling confused lies about God. 4 'But we do think that no man or spirit should say aught that untrue against Allah. 5 But some men used to seek refuge with some jinns, and this increased their waywardness; 6 ‘And that they assumed, like you humans assume, that Allah would not send any Noble Messenger.’ 7 And we sought to reach the heaven; then we found it filled with a strong guard and darting meteors. 8 There, we would sit to eavesdrop, but now an eavesdropper finds a flame in wait for him. 9 And we know not whether harm is boded unto all who are in the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth guidance for them. 10 Just as [we do not know how it happens] that some from among us are righteous, while some of us are [far] below that: we have always followed widely divergent paths. 11 and that “we thought that we will neither be able to frustrate Allah on earth, nor frustrate Him by flight”; 12 When we heard the Guidance, we believed in it, and whosoever believes in his Lord shall fear neither shortage nor injustice. 13 Some of us are Muslims and some of us have deviated from the Truth. Whoever has embraced Islam has followed the right guidance. 14 And as for the deviators, for Hell they shall be fuel. 15 If they had followed the Path We would give to them abundant water to drink, 16 That We might try them thereby. And whosoever turns away from the Reminder of his Lord (i.e. this Quran, and practice not its laws and orders), He will cause him to enter in a severe torment (i.e. Hell). 17 All the parts of the body to be placed on the ground during prostration belong to God. 18 Yet [thus it is] that whenever a servant of God stands up in prayer to Him, they [who are bent on denying the truth] would gladly overwhelm him with their crowds. 19
