The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn, 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 and defilement flee! 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 He looked (at others); 21 frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have made only angels as the keepers of the fire (for they are the strongest in carrying out Our commands). Our informing (people) of the numbers of these angels is a trial for the disbelievers. It gives more certainty to the people of the Book and strengthens the faith of the believers. The people of the Book and the believers have no doubt about it. We have fixed the number to make the disbelievers and those whose hearts are sick say, "What does God mean by such a parable?" Thus, God guides and causes to go astray whomever He wants. No one knows about the army of your Lord except He Himself. This parable is a reminder for mankind. 31
