Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 By the receding night 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 a warning to mortal man 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 except those of the right hand 39 who will be in Paradise 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 So the intercession of the intercessors will not benefit them. (The disbelievers will not have any intercessor.) 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
