The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and serried acacias, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
