The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]? 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. 20 He verily will be content. 21
