At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They replied: 'Have we not forbidden you (the people of) the worlds' 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication. 72 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 Verily, in all this there are messages indeed for those who can read the signs: 75 And surely it is on a road that still abides. 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 AND THE DWELLERS of the wooded dales [of Madyan, too,] were inveterate evildoers, 78 So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. 79
