Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And carpets spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
