(Remember) when Abraham, said to his father and his nation: 'I am quit from what you worship, 26 Save Him Who hath created me, and then He would guide me. 27 And he made it a word enduring among his posterity; haply so they would return. 28 Aye! I let these and their fathers enjoy life, until there hath come unto them the truth and an apostle manifest. 29 And when the Truth came to them they said: “This is just sorcery and we reject it.” 30 And they say: wherefore hath not this Qur'an been revealed to a man of the two cities who was great. 31 But is it they who distribute thy Sustainer's grace? [Nay, as] it is We who distribute their means of livelihood among them in the life of this world, and raise some of them by degrees above others, to the end that they might avail themselves of one another's help - [so, too, it is We who bestow gifts of the spirit upon whomever We will]: and this thy Sustainer's grace is better than all [the worldly wealth] that they may amass. 32 If it were not that mankind would be one nation We would have made for whosoever disbelieves in the Merciful silver roofs upon their houses, and stairs to climb, 33 And silver doors for their houses, and silver couches whereon they recline, 34 And adornments of gold. Yet all this (i.e. the roofs, doors, stairs, elevators, thrones etc. of their houses) would have been nothing but an enjoyment of this world. And the Hereafter with your Lord is only for the Muttaqun. 35
