Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
