۞ (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship. 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned." 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 So this day they all are partners in the punishment. 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 and not be recompensed, except according to what you were doing.' 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 In Gardens of peace. 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 who used to ask, 'Do you really believe that 52 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we be recompensed?" 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of AzZakkum! 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 64 Its produce is as it were the heads of the serpents. 65 (The people of Hell) will surely eat of it, filling their bellies with it. 66 Then on top of it they will have a brew of boiling water. 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
