Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 no caring friend. 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
