The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 And rejects the best, 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
