The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
