And remember Our bondman Ayyub (Job); when he cried out* to his Lord, “The devil has struck me with hardship and pain.” (After seven years of patience.) 41 (We commanded him): “Stamp your foot on earth, and here is cool water to wash with and to drink.” 42 And We bestowed on him his household and along with them the like thereof, out of mercy from us, and a remembrance unto men of understanding. 43 We said to Him, "Take a handful of twigs in your hand and strike with that but do not break your oath." We found him steadfast. What an excellent servant! He turned constantly to his Lord. 44 Also, remember Our worshipers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, those of might and vision. 45 for, verily, We purified them by means of a thought most pure: the remembrance of the life to come. 46 They were, in Our sight, truly, of the company of the Elect and the Good. 47 Remember [Our servants] Ishmael, Elisha, and Dhu'l-Kifl. Each of them was among the just. 48 This is an admonition, and verily for the God-fearing is a happy retreat: 49 Gardens of Eternity, whose doors will (ever) be open to them; 50 Wherein, reclining, they call for plenteous fruit and cool drink (that is) therein. 51 ۞ and with them maidens restraining their glances of equal age. 52 This it is what you (Al-Muttaqun - the pious) are promised for the Day of Reckoning! 53 this is Our provision, unto which there is no end.' 54 This (shall be so); and most surely there is an evil resort for the inordinate ones; 55 Hell, where they will burn, an evil resting-place. 56 There will be boiling water for them and cold, clammy, fetid drink to taste, 57 And other similar torments. 58 This is an army plunging in without consideration along with you; no welcome for them, surely they shall enter fire. 59 (The followers shall cry to the misleaders:) "Nay, ye (too)! No welcome for you! It is ye who have brought this upon us! Now evil is (this) place to stay in!" 60 They will say: "Our Lord! Whoever brought this upon us, add to him a double torment in the Fire!" 61 And they shall say: What is the matter with us that we do not see men whom we used to count among the vicious? 62 "Did we treat them (as such) in ridicule, or have (our) eyes failed to perceive them?" 63 All this is certainly true -- the inhabitants of the Fire will blame one another in this way. 64
