Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
