Therefore proclaim thou the praises (of thy Lord): for by the Grace of thy Lord, thou art no (vulgar) soothsayer, nor art thou one possessed. 29 Or say they: (he is) a poet, (one) for whom we may expect the accident of time? 30 say [to them], "Wait then: I too am waiting along with you!" -- 31 Is it that their faculties of understanding urge them to this, or are they but a people transgressing beyond bounds? 32 Do they say: 'He has invented it' No, they do not believe. 33 Let them then produce a recital like unto it (the Quran) if they are truthful. 34 Or were they created of themselves? Or are they the creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain. 36 Or are with them the treasures of your Lord? Or are they the tyrants with the authority to do as they like? 37 Or, do they have a ladder on which they listen? Then let any of them that has listened bring a clear authority. 38 Does God have daughters while you have sons? 39 Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are overburdened by a debt? 40 Or, is the Unseen in their keeping, so they are writing it down? 41 Do they want to hatch some plot? Those who deny the truth will be the victims of the plot. 42 Do they have any god other than Allah? Exalted be Allah above whatever they associate (with Him in His Divinity). 43 Even if they saw lumps falling from the sky they would say: 'A massed cloud' 44 Then leave them, till they encounter their day wherein they shall be thunderstruck, 45 The Day their plan will not avail them at all, nor will they be helped. 46 And indeed for the unjust is another punishment before this, but most of them do not know. (Punishment in the grave is proven by this verse.) 47 And be patient, [O Muhammad], for the decision of your Lord, for indeed, you are in Our eyes. And exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord when you arise. 48 and extol His glory at night, and at the time when the stars retreat. 49
