The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and spreading shade 30 And water gushing, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
