The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 By the angels hastening, 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
