The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 and gently take it away; 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 and hastily turned away, 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
