۞ And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him, 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these images, to which you are devoted?" 52 They said, 'We found our fathers serving them.' 53 He said, "You were certainly, you and your fathers, in manifest error." 54 They said, "Have you come to us with truth, or are you of those who jest?" 55 He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth). 56 And [he added to himself.] "By God, I shall most certainly bring about the downfall of your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone away!" 57 Then he made them fragments, all except the big one of them, that haply unto it they may return. 58 They said: Who hath done this to our gods? Surely it must be some evil-doer. 59 They said, 'We heard a young man making mention of them, and he was called Abraham.' 60 They said: 'Then bring him here so that the people may see, so that they may bear witness' 61 They said, "Abraham, was it you who did this to our deities?" 62 He answered: "Nay, it was this one, the biggest of them, that did it: but ask them [yourselves] - provided they can speak!" 63 Thereupon they turned to their (inner) selves and said (to themselves): "Surely it is you who are the wrong-doers." 64 Again they were inverted upon their heads; saying, “You know well that these do not speak.” 65 He said: What! do you then serve besides Allah what brings you not any benefit at all, nor does it harm you? 66 Fie upon you and upon that which ye worship beside Allah! Will ye not then reflect? 67 They said, "Burn him to ashes if you want to help your gods". 68 Allah said, "O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham." 69 They wished to entrap him, but We made them greater losers. 70 And We rescued him and Lot (and brought them) to the land which We have blessed for (all) peoples. 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous. 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 And unto Lot we gave judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him from the community that did abominations. Lo! they were folk of evil, lewd. 74 We admitted him to Our Mercy, he was among the righteous. 75
