The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring), 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 A written record. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 A written record, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
