The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
