NOW, VERILY, it is We who have created man, and We know what his innermost self whispers within him: for We are closer to him than his neck-vein. 16 [And so,] whenever the two demands [of his nature] come face to face, contending from the right and from the left, 17 Not a word he uttereth but there is with him a watcher ready. 18 And death's agony comes in truth; that is what thou wast shunning! 19 And the Horn will be blown. That is the Day of [carrying out] the threat. 20 And there will come forth every soul: with each will be an (angel) to drive, and an (angel) to bear witness. 21 Assuredly thou wast in neglect thereof; now We have removed from off thee thy veil, so thy sight Today is piercing. 22 And his companions shall say: This is what is ready with me. 23 (They will be told,) "Throw into hell every persistent disbelievers, 24 hinderer of good, transgressor, causing others to doubt, 25 Who had set up another god with God. Cast him into severe torment." 26 ۞ And his comrade shall say, 'Our Lord, I made him not insolent, but he was in far error.' 27 He will say: Do not quarrel in My presence, and indeed I gave you the threatening beforehand: 28 The word will not be changed with Me, and never will I be unjust to the servants." 29
