The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes). 1 your companion is not in error nor has he gone astray. 2 And he speaketh not of his own desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 and taught to him 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 while he was in the highest horizon; 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed. 10 His (Muhammad's) heart did not lie to him about what his eyes had seen. 11 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? 12 And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time). 13 By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary, 14 Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility, 15 When that which covers covered the lote-tree; 16 The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. 17 truly did he see some of the most profound of his Sustainer's symbols. 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 Is it for you the males and for Him the females? 21 That is indeed an unjust division. 22 They are not but [mere] names you have named them - you and your forefathers - for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire, and there has already come to them from their Lord guidance. 23 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! 24 But unto Allah belongeth the after (life), and the former. 25
