Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
