And mention in the Book (the Quran) Ibrahim (Abraham). Verily! He was a man of truth, a Prophet. 41 Remember, when he said to his father: "O my father, why do you worship that which can neither hear nor see nor even profit you the least? 42 "O my father! Behold, there has indeed come to me [a ray] of knowledge such as has never yet come unto thee: follow me, then; I shall guide thee onto a perfect way. 43 "O my father! Do not worship Satan - for, verily, Satan is a rebel against the Most Gracious! 44 O My father! verily I fear that there may touch thee a torment from the Compassionate so that thou become to the Satan a companion. 45 He (the father) said: "Do you reject my gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)? If you stop not (this), I will indeed stone you. So get away from me safely before I punish you." 46 [Abraham] replied: "Peace be upon thee! I shall ask my Sustainer to forgive thee: for, behold, He has always been kind unto me. 47 Now I will go away from you and that you call upon, other than Allah. I will call on my Lord. Perhaps I shall not be unblessed in calling my Lord' 48 Then when he had renounced them and that which they worshipped beside Allah, We bestowed on him Is'haq and Ya'qub and each one We made a prophet! 49 And We granted to them of Our mercy, and We left (behind them) a truthful mention of eminence for them. 50
