The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
