The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Who will be honoured 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water gushing, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
