The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what ask they? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30

Notes and Instructions
There are memorization exercises for the original Arabic and English transliterated Arabic modes only. The English translation mode has no memorization exercises.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
