The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount, 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 by the much-visited House, 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
