۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” – 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it, 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 you shall surely taste the painful punishment, 38 But it will be no more than the retribution of (the Evil) that ye have wrought;- 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 They will turn to one another with questions: 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 This is certainly the greatest triumph 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 Verily We! We have made it a temptation for the wrong-doers. 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. 66 Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 and [now] they make haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 And We had already sent among them warners. 72 See how terrible was the end of those who were warned. 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
