The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 The closing night, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
