The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of later ages, 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and extended shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
