Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 Stay up the night long save a little 2 Half of it - or subtract from it a little 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 Behold, We shall bestow upon thee a weighty message 5 Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech. 6 surely in the day thou hast long business. 7 And remember thou the name of thy Lord, and devote thyself to Him with an exclusive devotion. 8 Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. 9 And bear patiently the vain things they utter, and gracefully forsake them. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the deniers, who live a life of comfort, and bear with them a little longer. 11 for, behold, heavy fetters [await them] with Us, and a blazing fire, 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment, 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 We have sent a messenger who is a witness over you, just as We sent a messenger to Pharoah before you. 15 But Fir'aun (Pharaoh) disobeyed the Messenger [Musa (Moses)], so We seized him with a severe punishment. 16 Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white- haired? 17 And the heaven shall be split therein. His promise indeed must be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is an admonition; let him therefore, who will, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
